MEDIA RELEASE THURSDAY 27TH SEPTEMBER 2001
We just wanted to give everyone an update of Chris Cheney's situation.
He has suffered severe damage to his right leg and is being held together internally by 3 pins and a rod. He has also suffered extensive bruising and shock. We've been told that if everything goes well we can most likely expect him back on his feet by Christmas.
Chris is naturally still suffering from the shock and trauma of the experience and what his life going to be like for the rest of the year. His world has been rocked, but this time not by music. He's expected to be released from hospital next week.
The response from fans has been overwhelming and Chris's spirits have been really buoyed by all the cards and website messages that he's been receiving from around the world.

MEDIA RELEASE MONDAY 24 SEPTEMBER 2001
On Saturday afternoon The Living End vocalist and guitarist, Chris Cheney, was involved in a serious car crash on the Great Ocean Road in Victoria. He was travelling with his partner Emma down to Airey's Inlet. The police reports show an oncoming car moved into the wrong lane colliding into Chris'ss car at 100kms. The impact ripped off the side of the car and sent them spiralling off the road and down the embankment stopped only by a tree. The other car kept going and had a head on collision with another 2 vehicles shortly after. The other driver walked away unharmed.

We have been told that Chris is extremely lucky to be alive and if he hadn't swerved at the last minute he wouldn?t have been so fortunate. He is currently hospitalised in a stable condition, his partner Emma escaped with minor injuries.

The Living End were scheduled to appear at this year's ARIA Awards with Kasey Chambers but have cancelled their performance
